In April 2020, the County of San Diego issued a stay-at-home order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As an essential business and a large support system for the San Diego community, the Department of Child Support Services opened our doors on a limited basis in May 2020 to ensure consistency with our customers.

In opening amidst the pandemic, we created new signage and instructions for our in-person customers to outline how we were operating with our customers' safety and health in mind.

Each of these was printed large format and mounted around our office buildings in a large poster-sized print.
In addition to creating welcome signage for customers and staff, we also created signage around a new check-in and reception process. We developed a system that allowed customers to sign-in for appointments digitally and stay inside their cars our outside of our offices until their appointment space was ready.

These were mounted outside of our offices in areas that would greet our customers and be the first piece of information they would encounter.

Inside of our building we designed and printed vinyl floor decals to remind customers and staff to keep 6 feet of distance between each other. We added helpful suggestions of how to picture 6 feet in front of you as a playful way of encouraging the distancing.
For customers who wanted to contact us digitally and schedule their meetings remotely, we provided a helpful online flyer that was distributed on our website, on social media, and via email newsletter to let our customers know that we were there for them.

Our goal was to encourage contact with our office and exemplify that we had established a myriad of ways to contact us and our customers could choose which method was easiest and most convenient for them.

The flyer on the left was featured in printed material and social media andĀ features bit.ly short links for easy access to links. The flyer on the right was used on our website and in email news letters and the bit.ly links were replaced by clickable links built into the flyer.
